The first trailer for the upcoming Game Of Thrones prequel series House Of The Dragon has just dropped, and it looks like a pretty promising return to Westeros.
Take a look at the teaser below, which gives us our first look at some of the show's major players in action.
House Of The Dragon takes place a couple of centuries before the TV show we know and love, and focuses on the lives, loves, and general machinations of the Targaryens, the dragon-riding royal ancestors of Game Of Throne's hero-turned villain Daenerys Targaryen. It's adapted from George R.R. Martin's 2018 Targaryen history, Fire & Blood Vol. 1.

The show's impressive cast includes Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Emma D'Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower. HBO has also since confirmed that Savannah Steyn, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan and Theo Nate have will appear as members of the rival Velaryon family.
The first season will run for ten episodes, with the first instalment expected to land on HBO and HBO max in early 2022. Let's just hope they don't completely drop the ball after eight seasons this time. Is it too soon to joke about that? I'm gonna say no.
