These are trying times we're living in, my friends. Might I offer you a little slice of genuinely wholesome news to tide you over until the next Really Bad thing happens? Let's do it.
A group of friends who were unable to meet up in real life to celebrate a Birthday instead chose to get together in Grand Theft Auto Online to hang out for a day of chilled-out fun. As documented by SAMXGAMER on Reddit, the eight friends met up to relax, unwind, and chew the fat. As you can see from the screenshot below, they found some time to take it easy in the hot tub of a luxury yacht - something I'd consider as a pretty epic Birthday treat IRL.
It's not entirely clear if the reason the friends couldn't meet up was geographical, or because of the current COVID-19 situation. Either way, it's great that Rockstar's hugely popular online game gave them the space and digital luxury to enjoy proper Birthday hangs.

Even since lockdowns and social distancing measures were implemented earlier this year, gamers have been finding more and more creative ways to meet up and hold events that might otherwise have been completely cancelled. There have been plenty of Birthdays and weddings in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, for example, with friends surprising their loved ones with digital ceremonies and meet-ups.
A few hours in GTA Online might not have been the way these guys saw their Birthday celebration going, but it's wonderful that gaming is providing some kind of alternative, right?
If nothing else, it's just nice to see that some GTA Online players are making use of the game's yachts, which have historically been completely useless. It wasn't until the most recent update, in fact, that Rockstar made it so that the floating pleasure-vessels now serve as the hub for a number of new missions and activities.

Still, who cares about new missions when you can just stew in the tub with good friends and set the world to rights?
