Genshin Impact, the smash-hit action role-playing game from miHoYo, is going to get seismic updates every six weeks to support its players.

Free to play on PC, PlayStation 4, iOS, Android, and Switch, the game takes place in a fantasy world where each nation worships a god attached to a natural element, like ice, fire, air, and so on. In a battle with a mysterious god, the twin Travelers meet a terrible fate: one is absorbed into the being's body, and the other is sealed away to slumber for centuries. When they are awakened, they begin a quest to reunite with their long-lost sibling, and meet a colourful cast of characters to understand the truth of these strange immortals.

Yeah, it is very like Breath of the Wild, and the similarities actually caused one person to smash up their PlayStation 4. Why? They thought Sony was promoting a game that had shamelessly pinched Breath of the Wild's art style, cooking mechanics, climbing, world layout, and dungeons. Expectedly, the spectacular act has had absolutely zero impact on the Genshin Impact's success, and it saw over 17 million downloads on mobile platforms in its first four days. Ergo, that makes it the biggest international launch of a Chinese game in history.

Genshin Impact isn't going to rest on its laurels, though. Yesterday, miHoYo released a roadmap of what players will look forward to towards the end of 2020. "The production team will work hard to ensure that the version is updated every 6 weeks," the translated post on Reddit reads. "The major version update will generally be on Wednesday (the specific update rhythm and update node are subject to actual conditions). Each subsequent major version update will be followed by a version-themed activity."

From November 11th, new content updates and additions will be rolled out every six weeks. Resultantly, the second one will be scheduled for December 23rd, and the third one will arrive in February 2021. The November event is titled "Unreturned Star Off," the December event is the "Dragonspine Snow Mountain," and February will see the "Lantern Rite Festival" in Genshin Impact. As this is an unofficial translation of the official post, it is likely that the event titles will be slightly changed when they are announced for each region.

Lastly, miHoYo expressed its gratitude for their players' enthusiasm, support and feedback since the game launched in late September. As aforementioned, the game has taken the gaming world by storm, and it's pulled in more than $100 million in revenue. However, Genshin Impact generates a lot of its profit from its gacha game mechanics, and this has been criticised for its similarity to gambling.
