'Ghost Of Tsushima' Movie Confirmed, Being Made By 'John Wick' Director

You know, with the many, many Hollywood adaptations of video game stories coming out, I did think to myself this past week - "how long is it until Ghost of Tsushima is made into a film or series?" Little did I know that the answer was going to be so immediate. Sony and PlayStation Productions are working on a Ghost of Tsushima film right now.

A report from Deadline reveals that the award-winning open-world RPG Ghost of Tsushima will be coming to the big screen after Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions signed Chad Stahelski to direct the movie. Yes, you've heard that right - Sony has signed the director of the John Wick films to work on the project, and that definitely means that the stunts of the film are going to be stunning.

Asad Qizilbash, the head of PlayStation Productions said to Deadline, "We're excited to be partnering with Chad and 87Eleven Entertainment, to bring their vision of Jin's story to the big screen. We love working with creative partners like Chad, who have a passion for our games, ensuring we can create rich adaptations that will excite our fans and new audiences."

Ghost of Tsushima released in July of 2020 and has been hailed as a gorgeous game with fantastic voice acting and a story you can really sink your teeth into. And with the love from fans, comes an incredible wave of monetary support. Ghost of Tsushima sold 2.4 million units within the first three days of its release. That made it the fastest-selling first-party original IP on the PlayStation 4. And fans weren't just buying the game, they were completing it too, making it one of the most finished games on the PlayStation 4.

Eventually, this adoration for the project spilt over into the real world, and the fans of the game turned their support to the real island of Tsushima. After a tropical storm hit the island and destroyed a torii gate, a crowdfunding campaign paid for the gate to be repaired. It's obvious that people love Ghost of Tsushima, it's not hard to see, so we very much hope that Sony and PlayStation manage to pull this movie off and give fans the adaptation they deserve.
