In case you missed the exciting reveal of God of War Ragnarök, Santa Monica Studio gave us our first peek at the upcoming action-adventure title at the PlayStation showcase last week. We're really excited to see how Kratos and Atreus are doing years after the first game ends, and in part, that means we'll see the evolution of their fighting styles. Of course, the best father and son bonding activities are all about slaughtering your enemies, right?
Well in an interview from IGN, Eric Williams who's the director of Ragnarök has spoken about how Atreus's fighting will have evolved from the original God of War. In case you've forgotten, Atreus, though a very capable marksman, isn't really utilised a huge amount when you're playing Kratos. You use him mostly to shoot a few arrows here and there to keep enemies busy or at bay. He's great of course, but in Ragnarök, he'll be better.
Here's the trailer of God of War Ragnarök...
Williams says: "The way [he and Kratos] link up, he's grown up a little bit, so he's got a lot more follow-ups and setups for Kratos". He then continues: "Creatures then obviously need to have tools to go against that, otherwise you're going to destroy them. So creatures have new things that you're going to need to think, 'Oh, I might need to break them down with Atreus first, or do this with Kratos."
Okay so though you're better equipped to deal with whatever you're going to be facing as gaming's best father and son duo, the enemies are going to still be able to match up well - got it. I'm already imagining all of the cool moves that you could pull off as Atreus jumps off of Kratos' back and does a flip while shooting a flaming arrow and... okay I'm getting carried away. I'll just have to wait until 2022 to see the final result.
