Grand Theft Auto parent Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that it's planning three currently unannounced remasters of previously released games. This comes just days after the latest rumours that San Andreas, Vice City, and GTA III will be getting remakes later this year in time for the first 3D GTA's 20th anniversary.
The publisher shared news of the in-development remasters during an investor presentation last week (thank you, VGC). It specifically mentions "new iterations of previously released titles". These projects were listed next to the already announced "expanded and enhanced" version of GTA V for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, which is scheduled to release before the end of 2021.

Take-Two previously expressed an interest in remastering older titles, although said at the time anything it released would be more than a "simple port". This certainly rings true of what we've heard of the rumoured GTA remakes, which are said to be in-development using GTA V's engine (the RAGE engine) with assets from GTA Online.

n a recent thread over on the GTA Forums, admin and alleged insider Mach1bud claimed that the original 3D games are all getting the remake treatment. They argued that Rockstar already has a "solid amount of the content" created in GTA Online, pointing to many of the vehicles as one example. They also teased that the games will look "better than GTA V, but not as good as Red Dead Redemption 2".
This is all completely unverified for now, I should stress, but Take-Two's recent announcement would suggest that at least one of the old GTA games is almost certainly set to be one of the unannounced remasters. We wouldn't mind a remake of Red Dead Redemption using the sequel's engine either, if you're reading this Take-Two.
Anyway, The 20th anniversary of GTA III is coming up in October, so I'd imagine if anything is going to be announced, it'll be announced around then. Watch this space.
