If you thought you were done being surprised by Grand Theft Auto V, you might want to think again. It turns out that Rockstar Games actually released a special physical map filled with hidden locations that can only be uncovered by shining a UV light on its surface.

To be clear, this is hardly brand-new information and I'd hate for you to think I'm presenting it as such. Many hardcore GTA 5 fans have been aware of this special map since the game launched way back in 2013, and have spent the eight years since slowly uncovering its many secrets. But there will also be those who had no idea such a relic existed.

Before we move on, take a look at the best GTA V wins and fails below!

I am very much also one of the shocked and interested newcomers to the church of the secret map, and I hope that at least a few of you reading this article learn something new today. If not? Well, I'll end this article with a random fact about blimps so that you haven't completely wasted your time.

As explained in multiple videos on YouTube and dedicated Easter egg hunters on Reddit, the physical blueprint map that came with the console version of the game yields all manner of secrets when subjected to a UV light. Most of these have already been discovered and solved, but it's still super interesting to see how much work Rockstar puts into making its secret areas feely legitimately, well, secret.

Many of the hidden points on the map lead to things like safe houses and ways to make fast cash, but it was also an invaluable tool for players looking to solve the Mt Chiliad mystery and discover spaceship parts. Frankly, the blueprint map used in conjunction with a UV light looks like it would have been a god-send for players at the time, and I kind of wish I'd known about it back then. At least now all of its secrets have made its way onto the internet. That is slightly less exciting than working out the secrets for myself though, I must admit.

Oh, and as promised: As of 2021, there are just 25 fully operational blimps still in existence in the entire world. Wild, huh?
