Despite being nearly eight years old now, Grand Theft Auto V remains very much at the centre of our public consciousness. While much of this is undeniably to do with the game's online mode continuing to thrive, the single-player story's world and characters were so rich and full of life that fans still continue to reference - and tinker with - certain scenes from the original 2013 game.

Take the scene in which protagonist Franklin is absolutely destroyed by his best friend Lamar. It's the ones we love that know how to hurt us the most, and so it was that Lamar roasting Franklin to a crisp entered the internet hall of fame. It swiftly became a meme, and even secured a place for the term "yee yee ass" in the Urban Dictionary.

Lamar roasting Franklin recently started blowing up online again thanks to a series of videos in which modders and fans introduced new variants to the scene. In one version nobody roasts nobody. In another, Lamar has been replaced by Kermit The Frog. You get the idea.

The meme has now been taken to its natural conclusion, however, as I don't see how anyone in the world could beat this latest effort. Lamar actor Slink Johnson and Franklin actor Shawn Fonteno have reunited to reenact the iconic scene IRL. It's a thing of beauty, and you can check it out below... just remember that it does contain NSFW language, so maybe don't put it on if you've got kids in the room.

All credit to PlayStation Haven for bringing this together and creating the best thing I've seen this year. Truly, this is art.

Everything about it is absolutely spot on, from the location and editing to the way the characters move and the delivery of the lines. There's no way this is ever being topped, right? I mean, I'd love it if people still put out their own versions of these meme because it's giving me life at a much-needed time, but as long as we all accept this is the best it will ever get.
