'GTA 6' Fans Ask Rockstar To Take Its Time After Seeing 'Cyberpunk 2077' On Console

'GTA 6' Fans Ask Rockstar To Take Its Time After Seeing 'Cyberpunk 2077' On Console

I guess patience is a virtue.

It's been a long old road to the release of Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt RED first announced the game back in 2012, but it wasn't really until 2018 that we started to see the game in action and get a taste for just what it could be. Gameplay trailers promised a sprawling, thriving city the likes of which we'd never seen before, with a huge emphasis on player choice and freedom.

With each subsequent delay to the game, the corrosive blend of hype and anger among fans only got more deadly. CDPR was faced with a fanbase that was expecting a perfect game, but would also get incredibly annoyed at any further delays. In the end, Cyberpunk 2077 released after its third delay... and there are inevitably people now complaining that it wasn't ready.

To be clear, Cyberpunk 2077 is a monster on high-end PCs and the first wave of reviews (all of which played the game on PC), had a lot of praise for the RPG. However, the game is now available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles too, and this is where the majority of complaints have been levelled. Fans are running into countless bugs, pop-in, poor quality textures, and other such issues. While the game looks and runs well enough on PS5 and Xbox Series X,it seems the last-gen consoles are really struggling with it.

All of which brings me to Grand Theft Auto fans, who have clearly been looking at Cyberpunk's messy console release and have come to a conclusion: Rockstar should take as much time as it needs to get Grand Theft Auto VI finished.

In a post entitled "After Playing Cyberpunk 2077, R* Should Take Its Sweet Time", Reddit user ExoBoot describes CDPR's console launch as a "mess", and expresses hope that Rockstar doesn't fall into the same issues. "I don't care if GTA VI is coming out in 2024," they wrote. "Just don't be rushed and give us an amazing experience."

Others in the thread were quick to agree. "Can all of you NOW finally stop bitching about R* being so quiet? They're doing us a favor," said one user. Another pointed out that maybe it's better not to announce a game eight years before release - although of course we all know that GTA VI is coming, regardless of the fact it hasn't been officially announced yet.

"Rockstar are the masters of not rushing though," one commenter assured the rest of the thread. "RDR2 took what, 8 years of development? and it released in a pretty damn good state.

"I still maintain that no matter what patches upgrades CDPR do, RDR2 will always look better than Cyberpunk. I've played about 10 hours and boy it's an amazing world and story but golly the graphics are abysmal, RDR2 had it all amazing story, amazing world and amazing graphics."
