'GTA 6' Location Apparently Teased In Latest 'GTA Online' Update

Salt at the ready.

The latest GTA Online update has fans convinced they know where the upcoming GTA VI will take place, and it all seems to lead back to an alleged leak last year. Take this with a mighty pinch of salt, but members of the GTA Online community think they've followed a trail of hints that "confirm" the next Grand Theft Auto will be called Grand Theft Auto VI(CE), and will return to... you guessed it - Vice City.

There's also speculation based on the update that GTA VI will feature Mexico and and Chicago. This admittedly ties in with a report last year that suggested the next game would be a Narcos-inspired tale of drug smuggling that spanned multiple open world maps. So how exactly did fans come to this wild, exciting conclusion?

It all started with the new Height of Society DLC race track for GTA Online. The track was added as part of the Open Wheel expansion for the online game, and it wasn't long before people started to realise that parts of the race track matched up with maps of the Great Lakes, Miami, and Mexico.

"Rockstar appear to tease what looks like a map that includes Florida and Mexico in the latest GTA 5 racing DLC's circuit packs," one theorist wrote. "Strengthening the rumours that GTA VI will be set in Vice City (Miami, Florida) and Southern American city/countries. GTA VI(CE) City seems like the title."

While this all seems like a bit of a stretch, it's worth mentioning that a GTAForum user called gonnaenodaethat was the one who encouraged any cartographers out there to look closer at the race track. This particularly user as proven to be a reliable source for GTA leaks in the past, so perhaps they know something the rest of us don't?

You can take a look at the map of the race track next to a map of America below and decide for yourself.

Personally, I reckon this is most likely just Rockstar screwing around with us. The developer has always been incredibly tight-lipped about its projects, and I can guarantee that it will have heard all about the so-called "leaks" from last year that suggested a return to Vice City.

The most likely scenario is that someone at Rockstar is having a little fun with us by referencing those leaks to play with our expectations. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't pack your bags for Vice City just yet.
