Here we go again.

It's looking increasingly likely that Grand Theft Auto VI will be taking players back to Vice City. After months of rumours, speculation and clues, players have now uncovered an Easter egg in the latest GTA Online update that seems to point directly to the fictional setting of the classic 2002 game.

The Cayo Perica Heist update arrived in GTA Online late last year, bringing with it a ton of new content. The impressive new map expansion contains never-before-seen weapons, missions, areas, secrets, and rewards. As reported by CharlieIntel, players who took part in November's 100 Billion Heist Challenge were rewarded with a special jacket. It's this jacket that offers a potential hint at GTA 6's return to Vice City.

Reddit user Fabry06, like so many others, have been scouring GTA Online's latest update for clues as to the future of the franchise. When they took a closer look at the "Panther Varsity" jacket, they found a few intriguing clues. The front of jacket features a neon pink diamond and the number four, a potential reference to Vice City, which was the fourth game in the series.

The back of the jacket is where things get a little more interesting, however. Here, we can see a panther and the "fake Latin" phrase "Hostes Ad Pulverem Ferire" which translates to "Pulverize the enemy." This phrase can be found engraved above a courthouse-style building in downtown Vice City. Coincidence? Potentially, but many players seem to agree that Rockstar must have done this on purpose... either as an intentional hint, or as a way to mess with us.

"It might probably be just a reference to El Rubio panther and its enemies or something but at the end it still is a reference to Vice City," said Fabry06. "Not saying they are directly hinting at GTA VI on Vice City or something but we've had some references in recent updates."

"Great find. It could just be a simple reference but why reference Vice City of all places? Could be nothing, but I really feel like rockstar are teasing us here," one player noted. "At this point I am 100% convinced gta 6 takes place in vice city. It's just a matter of what time period(s) and if the game will have another South American or American city."

"Rockstar has been teasing VI this entire update going to a South American island, the coordinates on the first trailer that goes to that road in Virginia, all the little Vice City references like this one," added another player.

Taken on its own, this Easter egg might not mean much - but it's far from the first time we've seen hints towards Vice City making a return. Just last month players uncovered evidence of 1980's period Cartel weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2, fueling previous rumours that GTA VI would see players travelling between Vice City and South America.

Months before that, fans spotted that Rockstar had quietly updated the domains for "gtavicecityonline' and 'gtavi.com'. Prior to that, an 80's electro synth artist claimed in a now-deleted tweet that Rockstar Games has been reaching out to various artists to feature their work on the Grand Theft Auto VI soundtrack. According to "Vector Hold", the studio has been looking for Synthwave artists for one of the game's Vice City-inspired radio stations.
