Though we all knew it was coming, it's still exciting to see Grand Theft Auto V get an official release date for next-gen consoles. The satirical open-world action-adventure is still consistently one of the best selling games of the modern era, so it's no surprise that eight years after publication, a visually upgraded release is highly anticipated.

While we wait though, we can dream of what a Vice City 2 might look like...

Grand Theft Auto V's PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S release will be arriving on November 11 2021, according to GameSpot and the Rockstar website. It will reportedly have "new features and more" upon release. Strangely, there wasn't a release trailer showing any footage of the new upgrades, however, we're surely going to see some in the coming months.

Of course, included in the GTA V upgrade will be benefits for GTA Online players. According to Rockstar's post, the updates coming to the online portion of GTA will be linked to the November 11 enhancements somehow. Rockstar, though, is once again pretty cryptic, and exactly what these "special benefits" are is unclear. Maybe it's just some extra in-game goodies, or maybe it's new missions and content dedicated to the original campaign - who knows.

Interestingly, Rockstar also hints at something unexpected - some sort of celebration of Grand Theft Auto 3 for its 20th anniversary. Personally, we'd love to see a rerelease or something updating the game, but that feels unlikely. The post confirms that some GTA 3 content will be coming to GTA Online but otherwise Rockstar's plans are once again a mystery.

The best we can hope for is a reveal at E3 2021 which is just around the corner. And Rockstar, if you're listening, we'd love to hear more about GTA 6 too if you have the time?
