Hogwarts Legacy: the long-rumoured Harry Potter RPG that we've all been waiting for, is a game we here at GAMINGbible HQ are going to be keeping a very close eye on in 2021.

A reveal trailer during last year's PlayStation 5 reveal event left Hogwarts Legacy as the star of the show in the eyes of Potter fans all over the world. The open-world RPG really looks the part, offering a vast series of locations to explore that includes Hogwarts and many of the iconic surrounding areas.

"The game, which invites you to 'Live the Unwritten', is set in the 1800s, where players will live the life of a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry," reads a post on the official Wizarding World website. "Expect Hogwarts Legacy to be filled with all kinds of immersive magic, while your student-character will learn spells, brew potions, tame fantastic beasts, select companions to help them fight off deadly enemies."

There's no release date for Hogwarts Legacy yet, but fans - including myself - have already been discussing what they want to see from developer Avalanche Games' ambitious RPG. Earlier this week I talked about how the studio could borrow from CD Projekt RED and build on the idea of Lifepaths that were introduced in Cyberpunk 2077. Giving each student a unique origin that changes their relationship with the wizarding world would add a fascinating extra layer to the RPG - that's on top of the ways in which the House you belonged to would affect the experience, of course.

Over on Reddit fans have already built a strong community dedicated to sharing their own hopes and desires for Hogwarts Legacy. As you can see below, tvnzim has gone so far as to create their very own skill tree, inspired by Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order with various skills and abilities to unlock. I kind of love it.

Perhaps even more exciting, however, is the idea from darthgator23 that Hogwarts Legacy feature dragon mounts. We've already seen from the reveal trailer that it'll possible to fly around the world on a Hippogriff at some point, so why not eventually allow players this ultimate scaly upgrade?

It's the kind of thing that should obviously be an incredibly difficult-to-earn reward, naturally, but would make the ultimate prize for completionists who put in the effort. Although given the state of modern video games, if a dragon mount were possible, it'd probably just be a pre-order bonus or something. Here's hoping that wouldn't be the case.

While darthgator23 acknowledges it might not be the easiest thing to pull off, gameplay-wise, riding a dragon over the turrets and lakes of Hogwarts would be an incredible experience. Their idea has already seen plenty of support from fellow fans, too. Who knows? Maybe someone from Avalanche Games is reading threads like these right now and taking notes. We'll have to wait and see, and pray to all that is holy that we do get dragon mounts in Hogwarts Legacy. I'm already obsessed with the idea.
