The Harry Potter RPG Hogwarts Legacy that's coming up allows you to be your own student at the legendary school of Hogwarts. Practise magic, go to class, and eat all the pumpkin pasties you like in this mythical universe, but now we know that the actions you take will have an effect on some sort of morality system in the game.

In a Q and A posted to the Warner Bros website from Avalance Software and Portkey Games, there were some details about how the game will play revealed. When asked the question, "How do you play Hogwarts Legacy", the answer included a mention about players' morals being challenged while allowing themselves to become the witch or wizard they want to be. Hmm, sounds like a morality system to us.

The full answer reads, "Hogwarts Legacy is filled with immersive magic, putting players at the centre of their adventure to become the witch or wizard they choose to be. They will grow their character's abilities as they master powerful spells, hone combat skills and select companions to help them face off against deadly enemies. Players will also encounter missions and scenarios that will challenge their morality and determine what they stand for."

So is this going to be a Mass Effect universe situation? Or, we wonder, will this be more like a quest by quest system that allows you to pick a new side each time you find a new dilemma, like within The Witcher series.

Other details about the game, new and old, are also brought up about Hogwarts Legacy. For example, the developers seem keen to stress that the game is set in the 1800s, so it will follow the roots of the Harry Potter universe, rather than meeting any familiar faces. The best wizards of the past will go to Hogwarts and you might become one of them.

Hogwarts Legacy, if it's a success, is likely to be the first of several games created by Portkey Games inspired by the world of Harry Potter. The team will be offering more experiences as they go, but Hogwarts Legacy is where they're starting - the game will be available sometime in 2021.
