Protein, hamstring curls, and sprints

If you didn't know already, Henry Cavill suffered a leg injury last year when on the set for the second season of The Witcher Netflix series. At the time we weren't really sure how serious the injury was or how he had hurt himself, but a new video on his Instagram explains all that, as well as how he has been recovering.

We've already covered how he pulled his hamstring so badly it almost tore the tendon from his leg - it sounds really nasty - but you might be interested in seeing how he's recovered and his current workout regime.

"In the morning I shall wake up between 4 and 5 am typically, and then I shall have a protein shake with oatmeal. The protein I use is Muscle Tech's 100% grass-fed whey protein [oh, yeah, by the way, Cavill's post is sponsored by Muscle Tech, just so you know]. I use Deluxe Vanilla because there are blueberries in my shake and those things go very well together.

"Then my physiotherapist Freddie will give me a flush session on my muscles - make sure all the muscles are working properly. That essentially me lying on a bed with little electrical charges going through my left hamstring, and him massaging both muscles just to make sure they're not too tight. Which you don't need to see because that's essentially me lying in my underpants and that is not very cinematic."

Despite the fact I reckon there are people out there who wouldn't have minded that clip, Cavill goes on to talk about how he uses pre-workout (Muscle Tech's Shatter) as well as an 'Amino Tech Muscle Build' from the same brand for his morning.

After this little bit of chat, the actor goes into showing some of his work out for us to study and potentially copy if you're looking to work out like him. This includes some exercise biking, hamstring curls, calf raises, and a bunch of other techniques to strengthen the muscles, making the same type of injury in the future unlikely. There is even a bit of sprinting to make sure that running won't be a problem on set for Geralt of Rivia.

You can watch the full video and explanation on Cavill's Instagram page. He, and the rest of The Witcher crew, have just wrapped up the second season of the show and had this little video to celebrate their success.
