How To Unlock One Of The Deadliest Weapons In ‘Warzone’, The CX-9 SMG

Now YOU can have a machine gun, ho ho ho

Guns, in Call of Duty: Warzone, are kind of a big deal. That's what I'm told - but the last two games I spent time with were Capcom's Battle Circuit and Amanita Design's Machinarium, so anything that really goes pow-pow-pow rattle-pew-bang and sees someone else fall over dead is pretty lost on me, right now. Shootybangs? Not my scene.

However, there's no doubt that Warzone's been huge this past year - the game, or mode if you like, launched almost exactly a year ago, on March 10th 2020, and has since been played by millions of people all around the world. It's a competitive game, a collaborative game, a platform to hang out with your pals on, a way to destress when All Of This is still going on. It's much more than just a multiplayer shooter, is what I'm getting at here. But shooting, yep, that's still central to the overall Warzone experience.

And what you're shooting with is of utmost importance if you're the kind of player who plays to win - and I know a lot of you are. Recently added to Warzone, the CX-9 SMG is quite the toy for totalling the opposition. Absolutely lethal at close range. Destroys the enemy. Apparently. According to the internet. Which I definitely don't spend too much time on. Not this guy.

But! How to get your hands on this gun, this beast of a ballistic plaything, this pew-pew point-and-shoot that's so much more than its peers? I'd say it's easy but, yeah, I've no idea. What I can do, however, is use this internet thing to look up how to unlock the CX-9 SMG, and post that information, below. It's what you came for, really. This preamble? I'm totally wasting your time, and making this article that little bit longer so it can serve more adverts. I'm just the worst, aren't I?

First, you need to find the CX-9 SMG blueprint. Specifically, the blueprint for the Serac CX-9, which could be a new graphics card for all I know, if it wasn't for others telling me. It can be found in crates during a match. So, you're going to have to get a little lucky here. Alternatively, players of 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare can complete a special challenge to unlock the base CX-9, but as yet it can't be used in Warzone, so... that's probably useless, actually.

Now, you know where I wrote "first", just up there? It implied a "second", didn't it. Haha, psych. Gotcha. There is no second. Right now the only way to get the Serac blueprint is smash all the crates you can in Warzone, and hope for the best. I know, I know, there should be more to it than that - but right now, there isn't.

That may change should a previously rumoured Soap Operator Bundle come to Warzone in the future, as that will also apparently unlock the Serac CX-9 blueprint. But it's not been confirmed yet, so, you'd best keep on breaking boxes.

In related Warzone news, it's expected that zombies will overrun the map before long, and the game is up for a public-voted GOTY award at this year's BAFTAs. Also, Rebirth Extreme kind of sucks, right?
