Notice me Geralt.

You've probably heard by now that Netflix's The Witcher is getting an animated prequel movie called Nightmare Of The Wolf. The feature-length adventure is expected to air before the end of the year, and will serve to bridge the gap between the first and seasons seasons of the live-action fantasy show.

While we have no idea what the movie will look like yet, we do know that it's being put together by Studio Mir, the South Korean animation studio who developed The Legend of Korra and Voltron. We can assume, then, that Nightmare Of The Wolf will have an anime vibe to its art style and animation.

Of course, if you can't quite wait for the real thing, why not take a look at the amazing work of artist Carolina Silva (thanks, Kotaku). Silva had previously re-imagined HBO's Game Of Thrones as an anime series with delightful results, and she's now given the first season of Geralt's Netflix adventures the same treatment. Take a look at a few of her pieces below.

If Nightmare Of The Wolf looks half as good as this, I can safely say that we're in for an absolute treat. If you want to check out more of Silva's work (and I really think that you should), then head on over to her ArtStation and Instagram pages. Her excellent pieces are certainly more than enough to get me excited for the real deal when it arrives.

As we all wait for more details on the animated movie, its writer Beau DeMayo revealed a few new bits of info last month to help tide us over. Speaking to ComicBook.com, the writer said Nightmare Of The Wolf is far more than just a way to bridge the two live-action seasons. It's a story all of its own, that will feature epic set pieces that you could never show in live-action.

DeMayo said, "There are things that you can animate in an animated form that will look so amazing, so badass. If you did it in action, in live-action, it's just going to look goofy or it's just going to register as a little false to the human eye."

"There's a grace and an art form to animation, and especially anime, that allows a different flavor," he added. "So I think from Lauren [Hissrich, showrunner] and I's perspective when we came at it, was what is the type of story we can tell? Which, I can't tell you the story, but what is the type of story that we could tell that we could never tell in our live-action scope?"

It's not immediately clear what DeMayo means by this, but we can assume that Nightmare Of The Wolf will be taking full advantage of being an animation to do some pretty outlandish stuff. The Witcher universe is a pretty outlandish one at the best of times, and I can't wait to see how much the team embraces that when Nightmare Of The Wolf arrives.
