If you've ever wanted to watch Batman and Superman knock seven shades of poop out of each other in a video game, we've got good news for you. Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition is currently free to download - and keep - on Steam, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

For those of you who missed it back in the day, Injustice is a truly excellent DC Comics fighter that first launched back in 2013. Developed by Mortal Kombat studio NetherRealm, it's a finely-tuned beat 'em up with explosive combo-based gameplay and gloriously over-the-top special moves.

All your favourite heroes and villains are present, including Batman, Superman, Joker, Nightwing, Deathstroke, and Wonder Woman. Oh, and this is the Ultimate Edition, meaning you get all of original game's DLC, including extra characters like Batgirl and Martian Manhunter. I couldn't recommend it enough at the best of times, but now it's free? Holy heck, stop reading this and go get it.

You can head to the Steam page to pick up Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition for free until June 25th, so don't screw around. Alternatively, you can head to the PS4 and Xbox One stores to claim your prize.

Beyond offering excellent multiplayer action, Injustice also boasts what is quite possibly the greatest story mode in any fighting game ever. The majority of the action takes place in an alternate universe where Superman is driven to murder Joker, and ultimately embraces a new role as fascistic dictator of the entire world.

A resistance, led by Batman, calls on the help of the Justice League from a universe where Superman hasn't turned into an evil bastard, and the scrapping commences. It's basically an excuse for all these characters to beat each senseless, but it's really great. There's absolutely no bonding over mum names, either.

I don't know what more I can do to sell this free game to you. It's great. Get it. Hopefully this'll tide us over until WB Games announces whatever it has planned for the DC Fandome event in August. We're hoping that we'll finally get a look at the long-rumoured Batman game, but a new Injustice would be awesome to see too.
