Notoriously beloved actor Jeff Goldblum - you know, from Jurassic Park and Thor: Ragnarok and The Fly and Independence Day and those 1990s adverts for beer where all the sugar's turned to alcohol - is to star in a new episode of the Dungeons & Dragons podcast, Dark Dice, Gamespot reports.
Goldblum - who kindly tolerated our presence a few years ago and read out some famous gaming lines, a historical event documented in the video below - will appear in the podcast as an elven sorcerer called Balmur. The podcast is an improvised drama, and Goldblum will be one of five actors participating in a five-part series, 'The Long March', launching on May 12.

The podcast's artwork for Goldblum's character is worth checking out. Already an interesting-looking presence at the best of times, the art really captures the actor and the role in a perfect balance of fantasy and (sometimes fairly unreal) reality. A related post on the podcast's Patreon page adds further details:
"For the last few months we've been working on something top secret: Jeff Goldblum will be joining the cast of Dark Dice in our upcoming season! Jeff will be playing an elven sorcerer named Balmur, who is searching for his daughter's missing locket."
We are proud to announce that JEFF GOLDBLUM will be joining the cast of Dark Dice, starting May 12th, as an Elven sorcerer named Balmur.

The podcast team adds that Jeff will be joining them for the season two premiere episode - and that "If you've never listened to Dark Dice, this new season takes place after a team of heroes returns from their quest." No news on if Jeff will stick around for the whole season. They also note that you don't need to have listened to season one to enjoy what's coming up.
In related Dungeons & Dragons news, we recently got a look at the forthcoming video game, Dark Alliance. The third-person action game with co-op functionality is looking really good - and you can check out our preview, with video, here. As for Jeff, he'll be showing up in this summer's Jurassic World: Dominion movie, which is due to arrive on June 10. If it has a T. Rex that chases the human characters, be sure to point the film's makers at this information, because those toothy chonks really couldn't sprint.
