HBO Max is making a new and unusual series centred around everyone's favourite moody gothic billionaire, Bruce Wayne. HBO is currently attempting to expand on the lore of several big franchises in a new push towards audio endeavours with the upcoming Batman: The Audio Adventures which will star Jeffrey Wright.
As reported by Comicbook and Deadline, Jeffrey Wright who you might know from his roles in Shaft, The Hunger Games, Westworld, recent James Bond films and even The Last of Us Part II will be the lead voice actor in Batman: The Audio Adventures playing Bruce Wayne. According to Deadline, it will be inspired by the 1960s Batman TV series and the cartoon Batman: The Animated Series. We'll also see Rosario Dawson as Catwoman and John Leguizamo as the Riddler in the series.
Batman's old foes are reunited in the new The Suicide Squad and we got to talk to a couple of the cast members...
HBO has been trying to capitalise on its huge array of quality content by using the properties they have a part in as spin-off adventures that expand the story beyond the shows and movies they're producing. For example, there is also a Band of Brothers podcast launching as well as Chernobyl and Lovecraft Country on the way. It seems it wants to flesh these series out as much as possible so it can build out the podcasting area of the brand.
It should be noted that this isn't the same as the DC Comics Batman podcast that will appear on Spotify. That will be called Batman Unburied and will star Winston Duke as Bruce Wayne.
Funnily enough, this isn't the only Batman-centric part Jeffrey Wright has secured recently. The actor is playing Commissioner Gordon in The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as Master Wayne. The Batman is set to release all the way in March 2022 but we're hoping the project will be worth the wait.
