The live-action Sonic The Hedgehog movie isn't even out yet, but one of its stars has revealed they're already keen to return for a potential sequel. Jim Carrey, who stars as the villainous Dr. Robotnik, recently said that he "wouldn't mind" going another round with the Blue Blur.

In a recent interview with Jake Hamilton, Carrey reasoned that the role of Robotnik is one that has "so much room" for further exploration. You can check out the full interview for yourself below, or skip ahead to the 3:33 mark to hear what he had to say about returning as the evil genius.

"I wouldn't mind going to do another one," Carrey explained. "Because it was so much fun, first of all, and a real challenge to try to convince people that I have a triple-digit IQ... There is so much room, you know, Robotnik has not reached his apotheosis."

Whether or not Carrey is able to have another crack at the role is, sadly, not really entirely up to him. While I would imagine that Paramount and SEGA have plans for a Sonic The Hedgehog sequel - likely an entire franchise, even - it's all dependent on how well this first movie does when it speeds into cinemas on February 14th.

Based on what we've seen so far from trailers, I think Sonic The Hedgehog looks like a pretty fun ride. No, really, I do. Certainly, I expect hardcore Sonic fans will find a lot to love... but whether or not the movie is able to translate that love into Box Office success remains to be seen.

For now, we can all revel in the unashamed strangeness of the movie's official theme song. Released last week, 'Speed Me Up is a collaboration between Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Yachty and Sueco the Child. It's a song that has lines like "ladies love my speed" and "Stayin' in my lane, best friend named Tails".

It's not quite my cup of tea, and I certainly wasn't expecting anything like this to come from a live-action Sonic movie, but fair play. People seem to dig it, and who am I to say they're wrong? No one at all, that's who.

My relative apathy towards the theme song aside, I'll certainly be in line to see Sonic The Hedgehog a few weeks from now. I'm very much one of those Sonic fans that still, inexplicably, hasn't quite given up on the once-proud SEGA mascot, and I need to show my support. Man, I hope it doesn't suck.
