John Cena Explains How He Became A Meme

John Cena Explains How He Became A Meme

Featured Image Credit: John Cena via Twitter

John Cena is, I am reliably informed, a popular professional wrestler. Not really my personal wheelhouse, NGL. And obvs I'm being somewhat facetious as he's pretty darn recognisable, one of the most famous faces of the WWE, and also a sometime actor whose disbelief that Important People weren't extremely concerned about their new allies being called Decepticons in 2018's Bumblebee movie is, frankly, one of the most memorable scenes in modern cinema history. No red flags? Just a few, John, just a few.

John Cena is also a meme. Y'see, he disappears. Not really, but, it's a wrestling personality thing that got out of hand and now, if there's a picture that has John Cena in it, people on the internet are all: oh heck, where's John Cena? Or words to that effect. This large human man, we can't see him, because he once had a theme song called 'You Can't See Me'. See, hear.

And before you're like, hold up, GAMINGbible, why is there a piece about John Cena on your pages... My friend, please. John Cena has been in many video games. He played Hulk in Marvel Avengers Academy, and himself in Brawlhalla, alongside all those appearances in actual wrestling games. Also, cast your eyes over our articles. We've not just been about games for heckin' ages. If we can write about Fast 9, this is legit, too.

Back to this meme thing, and above you can watch John Cena explaining to Buzzfeed how he became more meme than man. It's a nice lil history lesson for ya, too, about his start in wrestling and his love of rap music.

Good video, right? Though it was weird, the way that chair was talking to us the whole time. Haunted studio, perhaps. Now, if Buzzfeed's video has whetted your appetite for the exquisite combination of Mr Cena and even more memes, we have a lil archive treat for you.

Below, you can watch John Cena checking out internet memes - including some featuring his own darn self - for our friends at Unilad, from a few years back (specifically, early 2018, in what we now regard as, the before times). You can expect: a failed backflip, a guy who we just cannot see, and we're really trying, and a duck. Stay for the duck. A duck.

In related John Cena news, he stars as Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad, which launched to amazing reviews and I am pretty sure is still in cinemas, assuming you're OK with going to them again. Not me, not yet. Idris Elba and Daniela Melchoir are also in said DC movie, as Bloodsport and Ratcatcher respectively, and we spoke to them a few weeks ago - watch that conversation, below.
