Johnny Depp has scored a rare win in his ongoing legal battle against ex-wife Amber Heard. Earlier this week, a New York judge partially granted the actor's petition to reveal if Heard really did donate the $7 million she received from the pair's divorce settlement to the American Civil Liberties Union and Children's Hospital Los Angeles as promised.
Fans of Depp have been highly critical of Heard for a long time now, with many accusing her of having misrepresented the truth in regards to the donation. Now the ACLU has been ordered to release documents indicating whether or not the donation was ever made, we'll know for sure one way or the other.
"Mr. Depp is most gratified by the Court's decision." Depp's attorney Benjamin Chew told USA Today,
The former Pirates Of The Caribbean star's lawyers alleged earlier this year that Heard was lying about donating all of the divorce settlement money to the ACLU and the Children's Hospital Los Angeles, which is believed to have resulted in him losing his libel case against The Sun in November 2020.

The UK tabloid had referred to Depp as a "wife beater" back in 2018, a statement which the actor contested in court. After some back and forth, a High Court judge ruled the claim was "substantially true," and that he "did assault Ms. Heard".
Depp's attorney Andrew Caldecott argued at the time that Heard's donation was little more than a "calculated and manipulative lie" designed to "tip the scales against Mr. Depp from the very beginning".
In the years since the start of Depp and Heard's contentious legal battle, the former has lost various roles. Most notably, he was removed from his role as Dark Wizard Gellert Grindelwald by Warner Bros. from the Fantastic Beasts franchise. Meanwhile, Amber Heard will appear as Mera once again in the in-production Aquaman sequel, despite protests.
