Zack Snyder's 'Justice League' Is A Complete Smash Hit With The Fans

I guess people really like Jeff Buckley.

Earlier this week, the first reviews for Zack Snyder's long-rumoured mythical cut of Justice League finally came in - and they were overwhelmingly positive. It's been a good week for fans.

The original 2017 cut of Justice League, as I'm sure you remember, was a mess. Critics couldn't stand it, the fans despised it, and Warner Bros. was furious that it didn't have an Avengers-level hit on its hands. Many have put the original film's uneven tone and pacing down to the fact that Snyder actually had to step away from the project partway through because of a family tragedy.

As a result of this Warner Bros. drafted in Joss Whedon (Avengers Assemble, Buffy The Vampire Slayer) to finish off what Snyder had started. This, according to most, is where the film's problems really started. Whedon kicked off a series of reshoots and re-writes, and we're still to this day hearing allegations of a toxic workplace environment and unprofessional conduct from Whedon.

I've never been a fan of Snyder's gritty take on the DC universe, personally, but I am genuinely thrilled for the fans who have finally had a chance to sit down and watch the director's new four-hour cut of Justice League. There's new footage, new story elements, and by all accounts, it completely transforms the messy 2017 release into something altogether more epic and ambitious.

Just taking a look at what the fans have to say, I'm genuinely tempted to sit down and watch it for myself. There may be some minor spoilers here, by the way, so if you want to go in completely fresh maybe come back to this after you've seen the film.

Snyder fans, I might not always agree with you on these DC movies. Hell, I don't think I'll ever agree with you on these DC movies... but I'm happy you're happy, and that Justice League's cinematic legacy is no longer tied to that double-flusher 2017 version.
