Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll likely have been enjoying the hit Disney Plus series Marvel Studios' Loki. Well, you wouldn't be the only one, as the house of mouse has officially announced that a second season of the show is on the way due to the rapturous response to the show.

Before we go any further, please be aware that while this article doesn't contain any spoilers for the show in general, we will discuss the context around the season 2 announcement. Worry ye not though, it is absolutely spoiler free.

As noticed by IGN, the mid-roll credit scene for the final episode of Loki season 1 (which is episode 6, if you're keeping count) says that "Loki will return in season 2". Short and to the point, you love to see it. As far as actual details go on the season? We have nothing. The above is literally everything we know at time of writing.

On Twitter, the official Loki account has been posting up videos from members of the cast espousing their love for fans and their fellow actors, including one by Tom Hiddleston, who plays the Norse god of mischief in the show.

While he doesn't give any concrete details on what fans can expect in season 2, he does note that there will be "many answers to your questions [and] like many more questions."

The show has been in the headlines for the last few weeks for a number of reasons, not least because it was revealed that the character of Loki is gender neutral in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (they have been for some time in the comics) a sentiment that Tom Hiddleston agrees with. "[It's] always been there in the comics for some time." he said. "And in the history of the character for hundreds, if not thousands of years."
