Actors Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd, who played Merry and Pippin in The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, are starting a podcast where they delve into anecdotes about filming these iconic stories and interviews with members of the cast and crew. It's music to the ears of fans, if music was two guys chatting.

The Friendship Onion - that's the name of the podcast - will be available through YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts, and the first of the weekly episodes will be aired on May 18th. Of course, Merry and Pippin are near enough joined at the hip in the films, and where one differs, the other complements to create an incredibly comedic duo. Actually, I think we're due a game about Merry and Pippin. It would take place before the events of The Fellowship of the Ring, where The Shire would still be their stomping ground. Now, if you're familiar with A Way Out, the game would be a co-op experience where one player is Merry and one player is Pippin. Initially separate, the two would then come together and collaborate thanks to their shared delight in mischief. The players would play pranks on the inhabitants of The Shire, but it would be imperative that the two Hobbits aren't caught. The hijinks would become more and more complex until they accidentally set off the dragon firework at Bilbo's party.

All of this is a flight of fancy, but there is an upcoming The Lord Of The Rings game that follows one of its secondary characters. Check out the gameplay for The Lord Of The Rings Gollum in the trailer below.

"I am contractually obliged to make a glowing comment here in regards to the podcast Billy and I are making together," said Monaghan in the announcement. "This is proving difficult as Billy has abducted me and is holding me for ransom to the price of 44 bananas. PLEASE, SEND bananas." Monaghan and Boyd are close like their characters, and their banter is going to be tip top, if you hadn't twigged. "Dom took a little persuading, it's true, but this podcast is going to rock! He is such a joker, you have to love Dom! Ha....but you also have to love bananas, so....yes! send bananas," said Boyd.
