Man Arrested For Trying To Assassinate 'Genshin Impact' Developers

Though it might not be everyone's cup of tea, Genshin Impact has quickly become one of the biggest games on the market. Making over $1 billion since release, this gacha game has been a huge success in Asian countries and across the world as fans fawn over the gorgeous environments, fluid gameplay, and cute characters. I mean, you can definitely see the appeal in the trailer below. But, did you know MiHoYo, the studio behind Genshin has another game it produces, that has also seen quite the success? Honkai Impact 3rd.

According to a report from GameSpot, a man has been arrested for attempting to assassinate the CEO of MiHoYo after some disagreements came about with the DLC for Honkai Impact 3rd. After some bunny suits for female characters were added and then deleted, fans were upset over them either being there, or not being there. It's not apparent which side of the fence the would-be assassin was on, but thankfully his murderous attempt was cut short.

The original report says that a man with a knife turned up at the MiHoYo building in Shanghai before trying to enter to attack the founders of the company. Ultimately no one was hurt, and he was apprehended.

It seems that the main crux of the issue with the bunny outfits for the women of Honkai Impact 3rd is that they were considered inappropriate by a large portion of the community. Definitely inspired by the Playboy bunny suits you might know, a video was also released of them performing a dance in these costumes. An apology on Twitter addressing the issues was release, with MiHoYo saying, "We recently received feedback on the GLB 3rd-anniversary story event and promotional videos featuring bunny girl designs and dance moves that were out of character and inappropriate. We sincerely apologize for these issues!"

The developer goes on to say that it will be removing all of that content and as a sorry, giving players some in-game rewards. It puts its decision down to safeguarding its content and making sure it hits a standard it's happy with. We're just glad no one got hurt over this.
