Man Channels Inner Ethan Winters And Unlocks Phone Using His Own Severed Finger

A tip straight out of survival horror

Sometimes, a headline tells you everything you need to know about a story. Everything. Which is to say, if you read on beneath these words, below this opening paragraph, and click through to a picture you probably never really wanted to see, well, that's on you, friend.

Still here? Okay then, it's your stomach that's about to turn. So, we've all seen how rough protagonist Ethan Winters' hands get in Resident Evil Village, right? (It's the game of the moment, so you bet we're tripling-down on anything remotely connected to it. And we're not alone, since this, um, tip comes from PCGamesN.) He's a few digits short of a picnic, is what we're getting at. His hands bring very literal relevance to fingerless glove wear.

Oh, so you like Resident Evil, huh? Watch our video on Village's scariest moment. But, beware spoilers!

And it's not exactly unheard of for Real People in the Real World to lose Real Fingers, too. My late grandad, he only had half a ring finger on one hand, as its end was crushed into uselessness and subsequently removed courtesy of an accident with a beer barrel. (Or so the story was told to me.) And, as The Register reports, a man in Spain not only lost the end of one of his fingers, but preserved it.

Why? I mean, who can say for sure. What we do know is that Kieran Higgins gladly showed off his two-weeks-detached index finger(tip, nail intact), and how it could still be used to unlock his smartphone. Higgins suffered the injury in a crane incident, says The Register, and then popped the stray part of his anatomy into medicinal alcohol.

You wanna see the picture, don't you? It's here, but, hey, we warned you. There are more pictures at the Register link, just up there, including what can only be described as that first horror, in reverse. I hope your lunch has gone down properly, because if not, you're gonna be seeing it again pronto.

Resident Evil Village is out now and isn't set in Spain - but Resident Evil 4 sure was, and there are some similarities between the two titles which you can read about, here. Check out our review of Capcom's new action-horror adventure, here. And if you made it this far into this article - well, this, IDK what you'd call it... is this content, just for content's sake? Probably. Anyway, cheers. Your effort is appreciated.
