Anthony Mackie, known for his role as Sam Wilson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is now the hero of Captain America 4 and fans are thrilled.

It's a little weird that this news has only just been set in tablets of stone, seeing as Sam Wilson took on the title of Captain America in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Then, the next Captain America movie was announced in April with screenwriter and producer Malcolm Spellman and writer Dalan Musson. Information on the cast to be involved on the project was under wraps so the direction that the story could take is really anyone's guess.

However, it is heartwarming to see Anthony Mackie standing front and centre in his very own Marvel movie and it's been a long time coming. He's played Falcon in six movies, starting with Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014.

We recently got a chance to chat to Christopher Judge, the voice of Black Panther in Marvel's Avengers, about the War for Wakanda DLC. Check it out below!

In The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Wilson rejects the shield given to him by Steve Rogers and donates it to the Smithsonian Institution owing to its importance to history. Yet, the American government took it and promoted John Walker to the role of Captain America, leaving Wilson and Bucky Barnes to combat the anti-nationalist Flag-Smashers.

Walker then loses control due to the pressure of living up to Steve Rogers' legacy and kills one of the Flag-Smashers. Wilson takes the shield from Captain America, and realises what it would take to embody the iconic symbol while being a Black man. Training and coming to terms with some terrible truths about the legacy of the super-soldier serum, Wilson got a new suit and pair of wings from Wakanda and will now lead the Avengers against evil both on Earth and elsewhere.

Expectedly, fans are very excited for Mackie to star in a superhero movie as the lead rather than a secondary character. "Yes! Love this Captain America in the comics, his stories had a different feel to the Cap stories that came before, but were still Cap stories," said magpye1983 on Reddit.

Captain America 4 is undated at the moment, but it is imaginable that it wild start production in 2022 after securing a director and the remainder of the cast.
