Marvel Announce 'The Death Of Doctor Strange' In Brand New Trailer

Marvel has dropped a trailer for The Death of Doctor Strange, a limited series which does what it says on the tin - the murder of the Sorcerer Supreme, the executioner themselves and what it means for the future of the universe.

Gosh. Count me out. I'm always cracking my knuckles and fingers, it'd put me off while I was casting those all-important spells that influence the fate of the world and everyone in it. "'What happens to the world if Doctor Strange isn't in it?' It's a question that I'm excited to show people the answer to in The Death of Doctor Strange," said writer Jed MacKay.

"Strange has been a Marvel fixture from the early days, but now, his time has run out and as a Strange fan, it's been my bittersweet privilege to shepherd him through his last day and the effects that snowball out of it," he continued. "We've cooked up a whale of a story to send Strange off with, and I can't wait for people to join us on it!"

Check out the trailer for the limited series below, featuring familiar faces like Magik, Thor, Iron Man, Captain Marvel and Captain America!

This limited series arrives on September 22nd and contains five issues which will likely keep fans ticking over until Spider-Man: No Way Home releases in December. Theories are running rampant that it isn't the real Doctor Strange in the Sanctum Sanctorum helping Peter Parker to rewrite the past. It looks like the movie will take inspiration from the One More Day arc in the comics where Peter asks the Sorcerer Supreme to erase the world's memory of his secret identity and in turn save the life of Aunt May.

Doctor Strange refuses owing to the stakes of making one small change to the timeline. However, Mephisto appears and allows Peter to rewrite the past... for a price. I mean, I'm willing to subscribe to the theory, but it doesn't consider how the character's personality comes into his actions. This is the same guy that was driving at 90 miles per hour down a dark road while using his phone. What's a little multiverse meddling to a man like this? I'm sure our questions will be answered in The Death of Doctor Strange and Spider-Man: No Way Home later this year.
