That's let the alien symbiote out of the bag.

Tom Hardy has been spotted wearing a Spider-Man: No Way Home cap in a recent photo, and it's sent the Marvel community into a meltdown, many now believing that Venom will pop up in the next movie.

Stunt coordinator Lin Oeding shared the photo of the actor to his Instagram before deleting the post. Unfortunately for Lin, the Internet moves implausibly quickly, like a slice of toast pitching forwards to land butter side down on the kitchen floor.

Of course, this isn't a concrete confirmation that Hardy is appearing in the next Spider-Man movie. The cast and crew wear these hats so it's possible that the actor has gotten his hands on an extra one to give to his kids.

Venom is the big bad in Insomniac Games' Marvel's Spider-Man 2, where Miles and Peter are set to team up to take him (and any other villains that emerge from the shadows) down. Check out the trailer, running in real-time on a PlayStation 5, below!

That being said, Spider-Man: No Way Home would be the ideal stage upon which to introduce Venom alongside other iconic ne'er-do-wells like Doc Ock and the Green Goblin. As Peter Parker and Doctor Strange have meddled with the multiverse in an effort to restore the hero's anonymity after Mysterio announced it to the world, it appears to have opened portals to allow these characters into Peter's universe.

Moreover, Sony itself has said that No Way Home will act as a bridge to connect the wider universe of Marvel movies. "There actually is a plan. I think now maybe it's getting a little more clear for people where we're headed," said Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group president Sanford Panitch in an interview with Variety.

Sony's side of Marvel contains Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Morbius, Kraven the Hunter and a TV show following Silk. If this movie permits Sony and Marvel Entertainment to merge their universes, then a lot of fans will be over the moon and the possibilities are pretty much endless.

Naturally, we aren't able to say for certain whether or not Hardy will reprise his role as Venom in No Way Home, but considering how quickly that photo was deleted from Lin's Instagram, there's got to be something in it.
