Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy Is Almost Certainly Getting Announced This Week

Remember, remember, the 7th of November.

Rumours of the remastered Mass Effect games are escalating following news that a number of the actors from the series are reuniting on N7 Day.

N7 Day is an annual celebration of the world of Mass Effect, commemorated by the community through fan art, tributes, events, and more. The name refers to the classification code for individuals who have graduated from the Systems Alliance special forces program in Citadel space, and represents that this person is the best of the best of the best (sir). It's emblazoned on the chestplate of Commander Shepard's armor, and has been a symbol of the games from the original Mass Effect to Andromeda. N7 Day falls on November 7th (no prizes there), and this time, nine actors are gathering for a "special" event this Saturday.

Mark Meer, who plays male Shepard, announced the news on Twitter, and the stream will be presided over by Mass Effect lead editor Karin Weekes and Mass Effect writer Patrick Weekes. They'll be joined by Jennifer Hale (female Shepard), Raphael Sbarge (Kaiden Alenko), Kimberly Brooks (Ashley Williams), Courtney Taylor (Jack), Alix Wilton Regan (Traynor), William Salyers (Mordin Solus), D.C. Douglas (Legion), Ali Hillis (Liara T'Soni), and Steve Blum (Grunt). Scheduled for 7.00pm GMT on November 7th, a link to the stream will be published in due course.

Moreover, the entire event will be recorded, so it should be saved somewhere for people to watch it again or catch up if they miss it. Now, the agenda for this particular meeting is not common knowledge. Ergo, it is possible that this is a jolly old shindig, where a handful of the actors from the series come together to reminisce. It is equally plausible that this stream will be the moment that the rumoured Mass Effect remasters will be officially revealed. Even if neither of these scenarios occur on Saturday, for any and every doting Mass Effect fan, a chill chat between the voices of beloved characters and the developers is not to be missed.

In May, VentureBeat's Jeff Grubb asserted that the "HD title" in development at Electronic Arts was a remaster of the three classic sci-fi shooters. A bold claim, but owing to the lacklustre critical reception of Andromeda, it wasn't too outlandish to consider returning to the roots of the series. It was slated to arrive in October, yet evidently, this didn't come to pass.

Apparently, the quality of the first game is holding things up- hey, don't shoot the messenger - and the games will launch in 2021 instead. If these remasters are real, and it's highly likely that they are, then the N7 Day event would be an ideal opportunity to announce them. We'll keep you in the loop once we know more.
