Massive 'Assassin's Creed Ragnarok' Leak Claims It's The Biggest Open World Yet

According to multiple leaks and rumours, it seems that Assassin's Creed Ragnarok will be the next entry in Ubisoft's popular open-world adventure series. While I should point out that we've seen or heard absolutely nothing concrete to confirm these reports, the majority of leakers and alleged industry insiders seem to agree that Ragnarok is where we're headed.

A Viking-themed Assassin's Creed is now looking more likely than ever before, as a massive new leak has surfaced online. This follows various listings for Assassin's Creed Ragnarok on multiple online retail sites. The new leak comes via an anonymous source who claims to be familiar with the development team. Again, we have nothing to verify this, so do take what follows with a pinch of salt.

The leak claims that players will be able to choose the gender of the protagonist, as was the case in Odyssey. Our hero is apparently called Jora, the leader of a small group of Vikings. It's through this merry band of Vikings that the game will apparently incorporate drop-in online co-op with up to four players.

Over the course of the adventure, we'll apparently meet a number of historical figures. The King of Wessex, Alfred the Great; Rollo, the first ruler of Normandy; and Charles the Fat, the emperor of the Carolingian Empire, are mentioned in the leak.

As for the game's map? Absolutely monstrous, according to the rumour. The leak claims that the map is basically the whole of Northern Europe, including major cities like London, Paris, and even York. In addition, it sounds like massive wars will constantly rage across the map that can have an impact on the game's open world, while stealth has also seen a major overhaul. Finally, it seems the game will apparently hit PS4 and Xbox One as well as PC, Xbox Series X, and PS5.

There's no denying that this all sounds terribly exciting, and certainly tallies with much of what we'd previously heard. However, at this stage there really is no way to know for sure whether it's legit, or simply the work of a bored but passionate fan who felt like fooling us all. It's happened before.

"For what it's worth. All of the new AC leaks so far have been incorrect," the analyst wrote. "It's not even called Ragnarok. Sure. Some of the details are right. Like improved combat or whatever. But in general, they're not that accurate."

Who you choose to believe at this stage is up to you, but I would say that Ahmad has a pretty good track record with this sort of thing. As is always the case with new Assassin's Creed games, it can be hard to separate the fact from the fiction in the lead-up to an official reveal.

Hopefully we get some concrete info on the game soon, if only so we can all stop losing our minds on every single leak.
