Since launching in late October, Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare reboot has been met with sweeping praise. Gamers everywhere are saying that the latest Call of Duty is a genuine return to form after a few dodgy entries in a row.
Unfortunately, as is the case with any hugely popular online multiplayer title, it doesn't take too long for numerous glitches, bugs, quirks, and exploits to make themselves known to all. So it is that some players have discovered one particularly ridiculous trick that essentially transforms the double-barreled shotgun into the world's most powerful sniper rifle.
As reported by Polygon, the double-barreled 725 shotgun is a fairly risky piece of gear to stick with you as your main weapon, as it only offers two shots between reloads. The trade-off, of course, is that it deals a hell of a lot of damage, meaning you only need one shell to drop a fool.
An extended choke on the 725 also gives it a surprisingly long range for a shotgun, making it all the more advantageous. Clearly spotting an opportunity to cash in on this weapon's built-in range and power, some players have opted to upgrade the weapon with a "monolithic suppressor" and extended barrel, to further extend the weapon's range.
To top it all off, they then whack on a four-times scope and have themselves what amounts to the most ridiculous sniper rifle the world has ever seen. I can't imagine you need to worry about it having two shots between reloads if you can simply use it to snipe unwitting enemies from afar.
See it in action for yourself below.

Predictably, there are plenty of Modern Warfare players who are already calling for this absolute beast of a sniper ri..., I mean shotgun, to be nerfed.
Some are arguing that such an OP weapon flies in the face of the game's alleged commitment to realism, while some have more eloquently argued that whoever worked on weapon balance "needs to be bitch slapped and fired". A calm and normal response, I'm sure we can all agree.
Given the overwhelming reaction so far to the double-barreled 725 shotgun's second life as a sniper rifle seems to be that of irritation, I wouldn't get too used to seeing it in action. Infinity Ward will doubtless be doing something to reduce its range or damage in a future update, so say your goodbyes now.
