'Modern Warfare' Weapon Tuning Update Nerfs Game's Most Controversial Gun

Nerfs up.

The latest update for Call Of Duty: Warzone and Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare is live now on all platforms. While developer Infinity Ward has added the usual mix of new content and general tweaks to gameplay, there have also been some fairly substantial weapon tuning updates. I know how much you guys love those.

While nerfs typically run the risk of annoying and pleasing fans in equal measure, it's likely that this particular update will be positively met by the majority. The JAK-12 shotgun has been considered one of the more controversial guns in the game, thanks in no small part to its alarming speed. If you see an enemy player coming towards you with a JAK-12, you have to be very fast to get out alive.

That was the case, at least. According to the latest patch notes from Infinity Ward, the JAK-12 has been significantly nerfed. "Reduced movement and ADS speed on JAK-12 Drum Mags," as well as "reduced rate of fire on JAK-12 FRAG-12 ammo" means the once-formidable shotgun shouldn't give players quite so much trouble anymore.

The JAK-12 seems to have been the only weapon tweaked in this latest update, which on the hole doesn't seem to have done much else. You can read the rest of the patch notes as shared by Infinity Ward below.

  • Fix for an issue where the code for Bunker 3 wasn't functioning as intended
  • Fix for an issue with the Riot Shield that would only occur when players obtained the pumpkin head after getting 3+ kills (pumpkin heads are back on!)
  • Fix for an exploit in Zombie Royale
  • Temporarily removing the Durable Gas Masks from Warzone
  • Removing Snipers Only (TDM) while we fix a bug. We'll be replacing this mode with Gunfight - Snipers Only (3v3)

In other Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call Of Duty: Warzone news, it's believed that the free-to-play battle royale mode will soon be getting an update to bring it more in line with the upcoming Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. According to recent datamines and an official trailer, a new Warzone map is coming that will be based on Russia, with mountainous ranges, a forest, and an early-warning missile facility.
