The First 'Morbius' Reviews Slam Horrendous Post-Credits Scene

Oh dear. It sounds as if Morbius, the upcoming Spider-Man spinoff from Sony, isn't very good at all. Try and act surprised, won't you?

For the uninitiated, Morbius is Sony's latest attempt at building a Spider-Man cinematic universe without Spider-Man. Set in the same world as Venom (or so we're led to believe), Morbius follows the titular Michael Morbius (Jared Leto) as he becomes a living vampire.

Take a look at Morbius in action below!

Unfortunately, while Venom surprised us all by being really rather quite good (in its own dumb way), Morbius is something of a stinker. That's according to the first wave of reactions from those who've seen the movie. And considering these early screening reactions are usually the more positive ones, I'm not holding out much hope for the full reviews.

"Morbius is unfortunately not great" and "definitely not as fun as Venom," write FANDOM's Nicola Austin, who called out the poor visual effects and "formulaic plot".

They added: "Really confused at the future of the Sony Spiderverse following the post-credits scenes & the editing. Matt Smith is clearly having a blast though!"

"Well, Morbius is about as bad as you were expecting," Sab Astley added. "A 2005 plot collides with visually confusing CGI to create a bit of a snooze fest. But don't worry, they've saved the worst for last. Featuring some of the worst post-credit scenes you've EVER seen, Sony are off their rocker.

While these early reactions obviously can't specifically talk about what these post-credit scenes are, recent leaks suggest that fans definitely won't be happy. If anything, they'll just be angry and confused.

Do not read on if you don't want Morbius' post-credit scene spoiled! You've been warned.

According to multiple leakers, all of the references to Spider-Man and Venom that were previously in the trailers - including the poster of Sam Raimi's Spidey and the Daily Bugle - have been removed from the final movie. Worse still, Michael Keaton's Vulture, who was teased as a major player in Morbius, has been relegated to a brief post-credit cameo.

So is Morbius set in the MCU? Is it set in Venom's world? It seems the post-credit scene leaves us with more questions than answers, but given the current reception to Morbius, I can't imagine Marvel and Disney will be too keen on the idea of folding him into their own cinematic universe permanently.
