Fast & Furious 10, the penultimate film in the longstanding series, has gotten a release date as announced by Universal Pictures.

Fast & Furious is one of the most lucrative properties in the world, raking in an estimated $6.35 billion in the two decades that have elapsed since its first film. To compare, Halo has made about $6.5 billion in merchandise sales, game sales and console sales in the same stretch of time. You'd imagine that Universal Pictures would want to future-proof the films, yet, as the saying goes, once you send a car into space, you start to run out of things to one-up yourself with.

As a result, Fast & Furious 10 is going to be the penultimate film in the series. Director Justin Lin is in charge of the final two films and Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges and Sung Kang are returning to their roles.

One major get for Fast & Furious 10 would be 93-year-old Ryuji Urabe, a former taxi driver from Tokyo who fell in love with the Forza games. Check out his story here.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is noticeably absent from the line-up and that's thanks to his tiff with Diesel. While Diesel attributed the feud to his "tough love" on set on the films, Johnson didn't seem to agree. "I laughed and I laughed hard," he responded to his former co-star's claims. "I think everyone had a laugh at that. And I'll leave it at that. And that I've wished them all well. I wish them well on Fast 9. And I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast & Furious movies they do that will be without me."

Fast & Furious 10 was originally thought to release in 2022, however, Universal Pictures has offered itself a little breathing room and allowance for any mishaps out of the pandemic with this confirmed date. Entertainment Weekly reported that the film is set for April 7th, 2023, so pencil in a reminder. We know very little of the plot right now, but Diesel told Entertainment Weekly "you can only imagine what is to come." My money's on more cars.
