This 'Need For Speed Underground 2' Remaster Trailer Is A Thing Of Beauty

I've got the need for a remaster.

It baffles me that Need For Speed Underground 2 hasn't been remastered already. Electronic Arts is usually so happy to take our cash whenever and however it can, and yet the publisher is sitting on the absolute goldmine of remaking one of the most popular video games of a generation. I just don't get it.

It's not like EA doesn't do remasters, either. The Mass Effect trilogy was been given a new lick of paint and some smart gameplay tweaks earlier this year. We've also seen a few Need For Speed games remastered in the last year or so, including 2010's Hot Pursuit.

We just don't know, sadly. Fortunately, a group of talented fans have come together to imagine what Need For Speed Underground 2 would look like if it were remade for modern consoles. The answer? Well, see for yourself.

This impressive teaser was created by Russian company Odonata (thanks, TheGamer), a group of animators and artists with a penchant for cars and motorsports. There's even a neat little reference to the Fast & Furious franchise at the very end of the trailer, which is a lovely touch.

Honestly, watching this just makes me want a remake even more. Can you imagine Need For Speed Underground 2 getting the same kind of treatment as Tony Hawk's Pro Skate 1 + 2 Remastered? Keep everything that made the original such a hit, but add modern bells and whistles to make it look and feel like a new-gen game. That right there is the dream, my friends. Until that glorious day comes, you can find me watching this video on repeat as I mindlessly hum 'Riders On The Storm' to myself over and over again.
