New Batman Game Reveal Looks Like It's Finally On The Way

The Long Halloween.

It's been a long road, and we're all so tired - but it looks like Warner Bros. is finally, finally gearing up to announce its new Batman game. Arkham Origins studio WB Games Montreal has been teasing a new game starring the Dark Knight for over a year now, but any official announcement has remained frustratingly evasive.

A report published last month suggested that Warner Bros. had been planning a massive E3 2020 press conference where it would unveil not only Batman, but the long-rumoured open-world Harry Potter game, too. With E3 cancelled and companies making their own plans, one supposed inside source claimed that Batman would instead be revealed in June.

It was then suggested that Batman would appear during the PlayStation Future Of Gaming event last week, but that didn't come to pass. We're now over halfway through June and no closer to seeing Batman. But the good news is that Warner Bros. has just announced a brand-new digital event in August that's entirely focused on announcements for DC comics, films, TV... and video games.

The DC FanDome event kicks off on August 22nd at 6pm BST. A press release describes it as a "mega, 24-hour immersive virtual fan experience which brings the universe of DC to life and features the stars, filmmakers, and creators behind its biggest films, TV series, games, and comics."

It continues: "Accessible for 24 hours at DCFanDome.com, the global event will immerse fans into the DC Multiverse, with new announcements from WB Games, Film and TV, and comics, as well as an unprecedented opportunity to hear from the casts and creators behind your favourite feature films and TV series."

This has to be it, right? I mean, it has to. There's no way WB Games can have announcements planned for a DC event and not show off the Batman game that's so clearly been in development for the last few years.

I'll be honest, if it doesn't happen on the 22nd, I'm going to have to assume that it's just never going to happen. We all dreamed this Batman game, and the months of teases and mysterious emblems never happened. That would be the only way to explain the continued absence of a reveal.

Rest assured, I will be watching along on the 22nd and will update you the moment an official reveal takes place. After all this time writing about the teasers and rumours, I long for the day we can finally confirm that the game has a name and release date, and we simply get excited about what is, not what may be.
