Electronic Arts and DICE are finally gearing up to officially reveal Battlefield 6. In a new teaser post, the publisher confirmed that the next entry in the long-running series, which is being developed for consoles and PC, will be revealed "soon".

Insiders had previously suggested the reveal is coming in May, so this very much confirms we won't have long to wait at all to see the next Battlefield in all its glory.

"We're in daily playtesting mode right now," reads the blog post. "Polishing, balancing, and making the best possible Battlefield game we can. I can tell you it is a bold step. It has everything we love about Battlefield - and takes all of it to the next level. Epic scale. All-out military warfare. Crazy, unexpected moments. Game-changing destruction. Massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before. All brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs. Get ready for our reveal soon."

As if that wasn't enough to whet the appetite of Battlefield fans everywhere, EA just confirmed that another, completely standalone Battlefield game is in development for mobile devices.

DICE general manager Oskar Gabrielson explains that the in-development Battlefield mobile game will release in 2022, and is "completely different" to Battlefield 6. Primary development on the project is being handled by Industrial Toys, with close input from the team at DICE.

"Make no mistake, this is a standalone game," Gabrielson stresses. "A completely different game from the one we're making for console and PC, designed specifically for the mobile platform. It's being built from the ground up by iToys to make Battlefield-on-the-go a reality and you can expect a fully-fledged, skill-based experience. This mobile game is now entering a testing period ahead of launching next year, so expect more details to come."

Sounds pretty exciting! For now, we'll have to look ahead to the more immediate Battlefield 6, which insiders have suggested is a seriously ambitious game that will push next-gen to the limits. We can't wait to see what DICE has cooked up.
