New Destroy All Humans And Darksiders Games Expected At E3 2019

Might be that an old cult favourite is about to make an overdue return...

THQ Nordic's ill-advised 8chan AMA of earlier this year - uh, still so much, uh - may have revealed something rather exciting: the very real prospect of new Darksiders and Destroy All Humans games being announced at E3, next month.

The Darksiders title - Darksiders: Genesis - featured in a list of games that was posted up during the AMA. Also there was Destroy All Humans - no title specified beyond that, so perhaps it's a reboot? - a series that's not been seen since 2008's Destroy All Humans: Path of the Furon.

Allgamers.com has done a little rummaging and found that THQ Nordic has confirmed that two as-yet-unannounced games for E3 can be described as "the long-awaited return of a galactically beloved game/franchise" and "a new vision of a beloved game/franchise".

Apply those descriptions to Darksiders and Destroy All Humans and, sure, they fit, right? The "galactically" part is a giveaway, surely? And Hell knows that Darksiders could do with a kick up the butt, taking on a new direction, after the lacklustre performance of late-2018's Darksiders III. Could it be that Genesis is a reboot of the series? With a name like that, maybe.

It could be, of course, that the Destroy All Humans here refers to a remaster or remake of the original 2005-released game, which came out for the PlayStation 2 and old-school Xbox. While the Pandemic-developed parody-rich shooter received something of a mixed critical reception, it's since become a cult favourite amongst gamers wanting some properly weird and colourful escapism. It spawned three follow-ups: 2006's direct sequel Destroy All Humans 2, the Wii-only Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed of 2008, and the same year's Path of the Furon, for PS3 and Xbox 360.

And yes, I am definitely missing a few exclamation marks here. Never mind. Expect more news on these titles once E3 properly kicks off on June 11, or most likely beforehand.
