Publisher Electronic Arts has confirmed that a new Need For Speed game is in development, alongside a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

EA had its first quarterly earnings call for 2022 last night, and stressed that single-player is still very much a consideration. While games like FIFA and Apex Legends still bring in the really big numbers, the publisher will continue to invest in other series. Star Wars Jedi, Mass Effect, and Need For Speed all got a mention.

EA is also confident in the recently announced Dead Space remake, which you can see in action below:

Industry analyst Daniel Ahmad tweeted the key points of the presentation, as you can see below. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition exceeded expectations for the company, which hopefully bodes well for the in-development Mass Effect 5. EA also mentioned that the new Need For Speed game is coming along nicely, and we should it expect to see it sometime in the next year.

It's perhaps not a huge surprise to learn that new entries in these highly profitable sequels are in development, but it's always nice to hear confirmation. A new Star Wars Jedi game has been rumoured, leaked, and straight-up danced around since the first game launched last year, so to hear that further adventures are on the way is a real treat.

We first got word of a new Need For Speed back in 2020. At the start of 2021, it was revealed that the game would be pushed back to 2022 because developer Criterion was being moved to assist DICE with Battlefield 2042. Given EA's AAA shooter launches in October, we'd assume/hope that most of the Criterion team are back on Need For Speed.

Hopefully we learn more about both of these titles, as well as the Mass Effect and Dragon Age sequels, sooner rather than later.
