Hell hath no fury like a gamer scorned, and if you've played Fortnite, Call of Duty, FIFA, Overwatch, or Rocket League for more than an hour, you'll know this very well. But, are these sorts of games being done a disservice, and the real thorns in your side are shirking in their shadow? According to this survey, the main culprit for gaming meltdowns may surprise you.

Then, I discover that the invisible grid to which all things snap to in Animal Crossing means that something is out of line. My stone steps won't be exactly in the centre of the museum's entryway - they'll have to go to the left or to the right. It's a shambles. Panicked, I think about the Bells that have evaporated from my pockets so that I could deliver my dream island. Wasted. Pointless. Futile. Will I ever know happiness again?

Then, I remember that it's not a big deal. It's a game - a game rated 'E' for 'Everyone,' in fact. But, rage quits are much more important to the experience of playing heart-thudding titles with higher stakes. Conducted by TopRatedCasinos.co.uk, the survey analysed almost 4,000 responses to which games set off the most rage quits. Interestingly, Bloodborne places tenth in the list, with 2,650 related posts and comments on Reddit about how frustrated gamers got while travelling Yarnham. "The most common reason for rage quitting this game was the high number of tries it took to defeat in-game bosses," said the study. Here's looking at you, Father Gascoigne.
There's not much in it between PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Fortnite, Halo, and Counter Strike: Global Offensive, presumably thanks to their relative similarities. Grand Theft Auto plumps for fifth place, and Battlefield arrives in fourth place. Grand Theft Auto Online suffers from cheaters, like lots of other online games, but the nature of its open world lets players track down and "punish" the cheaters in a vigilante manner. That's bound to ruffle a few feathers on either side of the fence.
The honour of third place goes to FIFA (no surprises there). The survey trawled 6,350 mentions of the games with "rage quit" on Reddit, and notes that the most popular FIFA rage quit compilation video on YouTube has more than four million views. The silver medal is awarded to Call of Duty, with a sizeable increase to 10,940 mentions on Reddit, predominantly about incomprehensible kill shots. And, the game that rules the roost when we see red, is Minecraft. "Minecraft rage quitting has the highest YouTube viewing figures of all the games in the top 10 at 23.6 million," concluded the survey, and the proof is in the pudding with 12,200 mentions on Reddit.

Lastly, TopRatedCasinos.co.uk investigated how upset players on different platforms become when the going gets tough. Nearly two-fifths of PC players admit to a rage quit or two, compared to 25% of PlayStation players. 14% of Xbox players have their hackles up when something surprising occurs, and it transpires that Switch players are the chillest - only a tenth of players on the platform say they are prone to a sudden stop in a gaming session. Well, I think the takeaway from this lesson is that we'll all try some of that "perspective" that's been going round lately. I hear it's kind of good.
