This pandemic has stopped many of us from being able to do so many things. Near the top of that long list, for many of us, is weddings. But for Steven Brown, nothing was going to stop him from marrying the woman of his dreams, who he just so happened to meet through Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

When the pandemic started to worsen last year, Brown decided to pick up a Nintendo Switch with a copy of Animal Crossing to help him kill some time during the numerous lockdowns. He managed to kill so much time, in fact, that he ended up accumulating more bells then he would've liked... so he joined a Facebook group to give some of them away.

It was at this point that Brown began chatting with a woman he'd met in the Facebook Group. Her name was Shayla Johnson, and he dropped her a Dodo code for her to come visit his island.

"I gave her the bells, and all of sudden she asked me if I wanted to see her island," Brown told Fox News.

Brown took Johnson up on her offer and caught the next flight over to the island where they got up the usual kind of Animal Crossing shenanigans. They would end up playing for hours with one another and, eventually, things grew from being a friendship on New Horizons to something more. Brown took a flight to meet Johnson in person, and things immediately clicked for them.

Not long after their first meeting, Brown took the plunge and popped the question to Johnson. "I knew that the connection I felt with her in that moment was real," Brown said. "And I knew that I didn't want to spend my life with anyone else."

The happy couple are now planning a wedding, and Johnson plans to move in with Brown this month. That doesn't mean the end for their Animal Crossing dates, of course. The pair are still very active in their respective towns, and Brown's daughter even joins them from time to time. You love to see it.
