There was a time when 3D platformers were king. These games captured the hearts of kids and adults alike as they got to run around wild environments with quirky characters fetching gems, coins, and god knows what else. And although some of these games continued on to have their own modern legacies likeRatchet and Clank: Rift Apart or Psychonauts 2, Banjo-Kazooie has been a little left behind. Now that changes with a gorgeous fan remake.

As reported by GameRant, Banjo-Kazooie from the days of the Nintendo 64 is back - sort of. A fan of the franchise has worked to make the game fit modern tastes and so far it looks stunning. Project Dream has been bringing the past into the present and with a new video, has shown off a jaw-dropping first look at what Banjo-Kazooie's Spiral Mountain could look like if it was remade right now.

The most recent time we've had the pleasure of seeing Banjo and Kazooie again was in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate...

If you were a fan of the original game than you may instantly recognise some of these iconic spots. From Banjo's house, to the spiral itself and of course Gruntilda Winkybunion's lair. It's obvious that this project was made by someone with a lot of love for the game and would appreciate seeing an official update. And if you look at the Project Dream YouTube channel you can see even more incredible location remakes from Gobi's Valley to Cloud Cuckooland.

Though it doesn't look like a full remake or revisit to the series is on the cards right now, Nintendo is actually bringing a whole bunch of N64 titles to the Switch, and that includes Banjo-Kazooie. The developers are releasing classic titles like Dr. Mario 64, Mario Tennis, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time and more with a first release of N64 games, and then at a later date titles like Banjo-Kazooie, Paper Mario, Mario Golf will appear too. We can't wait.
