New Nintendo Switch Pro Pre-Orders Go Live This Week, Says Leak

The original Nintendo Switch launched back in 2017, and four years on everyone is convinced that a 'Pro' version of the hardware is on its way. And there's definitely precedent in play, here: Nintendo has a history of releasing a console and then reiterating it a few times before moving onto new systems. We have the various versions of the Nintendo DS and 3DS as templates, and way back when in 1993 there was the remodelled New-Style NES, proving that this isn't a recent phenomenon.

Though there have been predictions of a Switch Pro for a long time now, we're heading into leak territory - and according to one leaker, the preorders for the new hardware are imminent.

As spotted by GameRant, Centro Leaks on Twitter has hinted that there are screenshots of preorders floating around. If the screenshots are to be believed, they say that preorders for the Switch Pro are going live on June 4, at "around midnight". The tweet says: "We have received and verified a screenshot from a big retailer's internal system that shows a new Switch hardware-related listing will go live on June 4 (around midnight). That's all we have for now, there's no other data/attributes in the listing right now."

Before the Switch, the Wii and the DS came the Game Boy, which is still one of the best handhelds ever made...

A follow-up tweet clarifies: "Also worth noting that this specific listing is a non-US listing from a US retailer. That should give you a hint what retailer it is lol." The hint is that it's Amazon-related, and likely Amazon Mexico which is where the original leaked listing was last week. According to Centro Leaks, there is a second placeholder date of June 30, which is just the end of the month, but June 4 has piqued interest because it seems oddly specific.

In any case, it won't be long before we see if these leaks are accurate. It's not uncommon for release dates to get leaked through third-party sellers like Amazon - it's happened before. But Nintendo loves to be secretive about its plans up until the last moment - so we might be seeing the new console in a matter of days, or it could be a case of weeks, we just have to wait and see.
