The cast for Illumination's upcoming Super Mario animated movie has been announced, and I'm struggling to believe it's actually real.
Legendary video game designer and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto himself appeared during the latest Nintendo Direct to confirm the release date and cast for the movie. It's currently scheduled to hit cinemas in "Winter 2022", with a truly wild cast that I never would have in a million years expected.
Chris Pratt is set to play Mario himself, in what can only be described as the strangest casting of all time. Meanwhile, Charlie Day (It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia) will play his brother Luigi. Jack Black will play Bowser. Like I said, this cast is unhinged.
The Super Mario Bros. Animated Film movie is heading to theaters in North America on 12/21/22!

Other cast members include Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Anna Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach. Charles Martinet, who voices Mario in the video games, will also pop up in a number of surprise cameos. I really do need to go and lie down to try and make sense of this. For now, let's try and reserve judgement until we get a trailer, okay? Okay.
