I don't know about you but when this is all over, one of the things I'm looking forward to doing again is travelling. Going anywhere outside of the small bubble we've been confined to for the last year would be an honour and a privilege. Travel plans for the next year are still pending, but I know where I'm going in 2025 - to the Mushroom Kingdom.
The local mayor has provided us with an update on the construction of Super Nintendo World in Florida via a report from The Orlando Sentinel. Gamespot reports that the park was supposed to open in 2023, potentially, but of course, because of Covid-19 related issues, the construction was heavily delayed. Nothing to be surprised about but does mean that we'll be waiting longer for an opportunity to hang out with Mario and Peach.
It's not just the construction that has been halted, it seems, the park will need to completely rehire the staff needed to work on the project once again after production stopped in 2020. Once completed the section of the park will include a hotel, shops, an 'entertainment center', restaurants as well as rides. Oh and we're sure we'll also have people in massive mascot suits pretending to be Mario, Peach, Toad, and more.

If you want to visit the Mushroom Kingdom sooner than 2025, you have two options, Super Mario 3D World and Bowser's Fury recently was released on the Switch, or alternatively, you might want to hop onto a plane to Japan when you can. Universal Studios Japan recently opened their own Super Mario World, which already looks incredible. It's a good preview of what Florida's version is going to look like when it's finally complete. From the colourful environment to interactable coin blocks for you to hit - it really places you inside Nintendo's game.
