This is potentially the remake of the decade, isn't it? I'm not asking for much, but I am asking to see Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi fight once again. And it sounds like that's exactly what the Obi-Wan Kenobi show is going to do when it comes to Disney Plus.
According to GamesRadar, Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed that the two will meet once again in "the rematch of the century" - oh sorry I definitely underestimated when I said decade then. Fans might already know that Anakin/Vader is coming back to the series, once again played by Hayden Christensen who took the role on for the prequel films. He returned, as many Star Wars favourites did, in the sequels as a force voice/ghost thing, but this will be the first time we will have seen him reprise the role on screen since that final epic fight scene in Revenge of the Sith.
According to the same report from GamesRadar, footage of Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan has been shown to select investors and media in preparation for the series landing. The setting of this series is "quite a dark time" that we're seeing Obi-Wan in, "just being a Jedi - it's not safe. There are Jedi hunters out there." We've often wondered, between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, how Obi-Wan survived and kept going after such a massive blow to the Jedi. I guess now we'll know.
There are quite a few rumours about this new Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Of course, this fight scene seems like it has a pretty solid confirmation which is a great start, but what about other roles being reprised. Well we recently reported that Liam Neeson has apparently signed up to becoming Qui-Gon Jinn once again in the series - we'd put money on either a flashback or a force ghost, both seem fun. And while we're at it, we wouldn't mind the return of Samuel L. Jackson as Mace Windu which has also been hinted at.
