Orlando Bloom Shows Archery Skills 20 Years After Playing Legolas

Strangely enough, I know a thing or two about archery, so believe me when I say Orlando Bloom's preserved archery skills from his days as Legolas are pretty impressive. The actor who starred in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy as elf bow master Legolas has shared a video of him loosing some arrows at a target with frightening accuracy, and yeah, it's pretty awesome.

As People noticed, the actor posted a clip to his Instagram showing off that yes, in fact, he's still got it. The video shows him shooting two arrows into a target that's probably 15 metres or so away, and hitting it solidly both times. It's a shame he's not got his Legolas gear on - we'd have loved to see some flowing blonde hair too if we're honest.

The next time we'll be seeing Middle Earth will be in the upcoming The Lord of the Rings: Gollum...

And being a real nerd about archery means I can tell you that it's pretty impressive that his form is surprisingly solid. It's obvious that not only did he train hard for Legolas when he played the elf 20 years ago, but he's probably kept up the practice since or at least in lockdown he hopped back into the art.

His fiancé seemed to enjoy the show too, actually. Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom's wife-to-be, commented on the clip with a short and sweet "hot", to show her approval.

But you know, because I'm picky, the only thing I'm going to tell you he's really doing wrong is that there is a man who should not be there. I wish I was joking when I say it's a pretty big health and safety issue. When you're shooting, it's a universal rule that no one should be in front of the archer, and yet there is a man sitting politely in a chair in the background and I want to shout at him to move. Luckily the actor still seems to be pretty good with the weapon so we can let it go this once.
